Home › Guides › Intraday vs Swing Trading Screener — Which Do You Need?
Intraday and swing trading require fundamentally different screener setups — using the wrong one for your style leads to false signals and missed opportunities.
Intraday screeners need to work in real time and update every few minutes during market hours. Key parameters: volume surge in current session, intraday price move percentage, VWAP position, 5-minute or 15-minute RSI, and opening range data. Intraday screeners are useless after 3:00 PM.
Swing screeners run end-of-day on the daily chart. Key parameters: daily RSI range, EMA alignment, delivery percentage, 52-week high/low proximity, and pattern recognition (breakout, pullback to EMA, consolidation). You run a swing screener after 3:30 PM to prepare watchlists for the next session.
BottomStreet includes screener modes for intraday trading (live, updating every few minutes) and swing trading (end-of-day daily chart scan). Toggle between the two modes depending on your trading style and the time of day.
